Fire Department Gives Rides During Fire Safety Week
Members of the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department gave rides on one of their fire trucks to children at the Mother's Day Out at First Baptist Church in Lexington last Tuesday morning. Prominent Community Leader Dies
Leonard Alfred Kriegel passed away on October 1, 2009 at the age of 89. Leonard was co-owner with his wife, Margaret, of Leonard's and Margaret's, a clothing store in downtown Giddings for over 40 years. Throughout the years Leonard gave unselfishly of his time and talents to a variety of organizations including his church, community and profession. Full Story
Five Sentenced in District Court Action
In the 21st Judicial District Court of Lee County, Texas on October 1, 2009, with the Honorable Terry Flenniken presiding, five individuals were sentenced. Patrick Richard Beasley, 25 of Lexington, received 7 years probation for an Arson conviction. He was assessed $3380 in fines, fees and restitution. Full Story

"Jungle Book Kids"
The Brenham Children's Chorus will be performing "Disney's Jungle Book Kids" at the Blinn College O'Donnell Center in Brenham on Saturday, October 10 at 7 pm and on Sunday, October 11 at 2 pm. Involving 2 choral groups, the Chorus is made up of children in grades 4 - 8 and children in grades 2 - 3. Full Story
6th Annual Chocolate Lovers Festival Saturday, October 17, 2009 on the Square in Lovely Downtown Lexington
Last year's Chocolate Lovers Festival was a huge success from every account. More vendors lined the streets than in years past and the baking contests pulled in more than 50 entries. Twenty-three youth entries featured everything from brownies to chocolate covered apples.( look on page 4 in this section to see pictures of the youth winners) In the adult entries, 31 people demonstrated their savy when it came to baking chocolate cakes and making delicious chocolate desserts. Once again, Executive Chef Charles Williams from the Texas Chef's Association will be the main judge. He is seen above with the winners of last year's Adult Cake Division contest. Eagles Smoke Bees 34-14
A completely different team took the field this week than last for the Lexington Eagles. The Eagles came out blocking, tackling, and running with pride, which was not present in the district opener last week. Xavier Ward made an outstanding play with 5:55 left in the first quarter that may have turned the season for Lexington. Full Story
Lady Eagles Capture Cameron Cross Country Title
Lauren Johnston led the Lady Eagles to the championship of the Cameron Cross Country meet Monday afternoon. Sister Ashton Johnston, Hillary Salazar, Rachel Clark, and Lucero Martinez places were the ones used for the winning score. Full Story
Sports Thoughts
Did the Lexington coaches do a great job in turning the team around in a week? The blocking, tackling, and overall execution was great as compared to Lago Vista. The results were great also. The changes were very subtle. The coaches featured the running game and changed the splits in the offensive line. Full Story

Lexington's Lady Eagles defeated Florence in three games Tuesday night The win was the Lady Eagles' second in the first round of district play. Karley Wren and Angel Parks led the Lexington attack with six kills each. Lexington served 20 aces in the match. Full Story

Elizabeth Josephine Parker Harrison, Betty Jo, to family and friends was born November 24, 1922 to Joseph John Parker and Pinkie Louise Ferguson Parker in Lexington, Texas just up the hill from where she lived most of her life.
