Robinson Comes to Giddings

by Mike Organ

The Giddings Buffalos host the Robinson Rockets Friday night in their final tune up before starting district play next week. The Buffs come off a rough affair with Elgin that saw several players from both teams get ejected from the game.

Giddings will face a McClennan Country crew that has only won one game, that against Salado 22- 6. The Rockets run the suddenly popular spread offense. The spread offense makes teams that were only average, much more competitive because they can get a quick TD and rock the opponent's defense. The spread also spreads out the opponent's defensive players to they must make more one-on-one plays.

Robinson is trying to find a new quarterback to get the offense going. Matt Walker appears to be the chosen one for the job. Running back Domonic DeGrate will carry the ball behind an offensive line that boasts two returning starters.

Robinson is 1-3 for the season. Alvarado topped the Rockets 34- 7, China Spring dropped the Rockets 17-2, and Iowa Park popped them 40-21. The Robinson Rockets' sole victory has been over 2A Salado 24-3.
