Jr. Varsity Eagles Victorious
The JV Eagles beat Lago Vista 26-6 Thursday night in Lexington. Jason Washington, seeing his first action of the year due to injury, threw two TD passes and ran for another. The offensive explosion along with a stingy defense led by Antonio Washington meant victory for the young birds.
David Houston got the first score for Lexington on a five-yard run. Jason Washington got the next score on an eight-yard scoring scamper. Both tries for the PAT failed. The two scores gave Lexington 12-0 halftime lead. The Eagle ground game netted over 100 yards for the game. Jason Washington had 10 carries for 58 yards and Houston had 22 yards. Others contributing to the ground game were Meuth and Jacob Snyder.
In the second half, the passing attack posted the scores. Logan Meuth caught a 10-yard pass and Zach Lay a 35-yard scoring pass. Meuth also caught a pass for a PAT after Lay's score. The scores upped Lexington's total to 26. Jason Washington finished the night with 10 completions on 19 passing attempts. He did have one errant aerial intercepted. The 10 completions were for more than 120 yards. Tyler Meyer caught two passes for 21 yards and Colin Wiggins had one reception for four steps.
The defense held the visiting Vikings to six-points for the contest. Antonio Washington led in tackles with eight. Others making tackles and the number of tackles for the defense were: Tyler Meyer 4, Todd Glass 3 & fumble recovery, Tommy Stegall 3, Ray Gardner 3, Oscar Sauceda 3, Logan Meuth 3, Jason Washington 2, Austin Smith 1,Kevin Johnson 1, and Colin Wiggins 1.
