Lexington ISD Earns Superior Financial Rating
Lexington Independent School District officials announced that the district received a rating of "Superior Achievement" under Texas' Schools FIRST financial accountability rating system. Superintendent Dr. Chuck Holt offered a report in a public hearing before the Lexington ISD School Board on Monday, September 21, 2009 that outlined the achievement of the district. Full Story
County Increases Taxes
At the regular meeting of the Lee County Commissioner's Court on Monday, September 28, 2009, The Court adopted the County's 2009- 2010 Budget. The Court also ratified the tax revenue increase reflected in this new budget. The tax rate to support this budget will be $0.6378 per hundred dollar valuation and is an increase of 6.55% over last year. Full Story

Dime Box Homecoming Annual Celebration and Mini-Marathon
Saturday, October 3, 2009, is the date for the 32nd Annual Dime Box Mini-Marathon and Homecoming. Events scheduled include the Mini-Marathon beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Dime Box Volunteer Fire Station in Dime Box. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. for the three races: 10K Run, 2 Mile Run, and the 2 Mile Walk. All registrants will receive a T-Shirt. Full Story

Lago Vista Runs Past Eagles
The Lago Vista Vikings unleashed a potent running attack on the Lexington Eagles in Friday's district opener for a 29-6 win. Lago Vista surprised the Eagles with their tough rushing offense in the first half. The Vikings had 272 yards rushing in the first half and finished with 377. Full Story
Jr. Varsity Eagles Victorious
The JV Eagles beat Lago Vista 26-6 Thursday night in Lexington. Jason Washington, seeing his first action of the year due to injury, threw two TD passes and ran for another. The offensive explosion along with a stingy defense led by Antonio Washington meant victory for the young birds. Full Story
Eagles to Host Academy
Lexington hosts the Academy Bumblebees Friday night. The Eagles are coming off a loss to Lago Vista to open District 25-AA action. Academy toasted Jarrell 41-7 in their district opener. Academy beat Lexington last year 21-15 amid a plethora of questionable calls by game officials. Lexington coaches thought the questionable calls cost the Eagles a trip to the 2008 playoffs. Lago Vista Spikes Lady Eagles
Lexington dropped to 1-4 in district action with a three game loss to Lago Vista Friday night. Lexington lost 19-25, 11-25, and 11-25. Lexington came out a little flat and the Lady Vikings were a talented team. Leading Lexington in various categories were: Johna Alford four kills, Karley Wren five aces and Jessica Parish three aces, and Emily Bell three blocks. Full Story

Services for Myrtle E. Rolan Jones 81 of Caldwell were held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Burial was in the Salty Cemetery near Thorndale with Minister John Boydston officiating. Myrtle was born January 26, 1928 in Brady, Texas to James Buchanan and Nettie Eugene (Wilson) Rolan.
