Eagles Encourage Businesses to Go Green

by Christy Mann-Iiames

There's a new Green Movement in Lexington sweeping through area businesses—Go Green Fridays. To show their support of all LISD Eagles, business owners are encouraging their employees to wear Eagle t-shirts on casual Fridays.

"I think it's a great idea to show our customers that we support the local students—no matter what sport they play or group they belong to," said Helen Parish, owner of Helen's Snowballs.

The new Eagle Pride and Tradition t-shirts, designed by the Lexington High School Grad Bash committee, not only list all Eagle sports teams, but also includes student clubs, cheerleaders and band.

"The committee wanted to recognize all the activities that Eagles are involved with," said Grad Bash committee president Karen Wren.

The t-shirts are Kelly green with gold lettering and come in children's and adult sizes. They say "Eagle Pride and Tradition" on the front and list the groups on the back: Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Power lifting, School Clubs, Band, Tennis, Golf, Track, Baseball, Softball, Cheerleaders.

Proceeds from the shirt sales will benefit LHS 2010 Grad Bash to help provide a fun, alcohol-free celebration for Lexington graduates. Eagle Pride and Tradition tshirts are available now from any LHS senior and at the elementary and middle schools.
