MS Football Report

by Mike Organ

7th Grade - The seventh grade lost 24-6 in their game with Rice. We were late in getting to the game so only the score is available. Any parent wishing to take notes please do so and call 773-2327 Thursday night or early Friday morning.

8th Grade - Rice intercepted a Lexington pass and returned it to get an early 8-0 lead. Lexington answered with a drive. Eriq Mitchell connected on a 40-yard pass play to Derek Dane to get things rolling. A couple of runs moved the ball to the 10-yard line. From there Mitchell found Dane with a pass to score Lexington's first TD of the game. To start the third quarter, Noble Little returned the kickoff 25-yards. A penalty on Rice moved the ball to the Rice 30. Eriq Mitchell ran the ball several times moving the ball down to the two-yard line. Kevin Letbetter ran the ball in for the score behind clearing blocks from Allen Junek, Colt Sunvison, and Corey Strain.

Mitchell ran over the PAT for the final 14-8 margin. The Green defense had to make a couple of saves. Strain intercepted a pass and a punting miscue let Rice have the ball on the Eagle 14. The defense held and the offense ran out the clock in an exciting finish. The D was led by Gabriel McMahon, Mitchell, Strain, and Cameron Janda with four tackles. Letbetter, Devin Canon, and Nigel Cleveland had three stops each. Little, Hunter Wilson, Dane, and Nate Holcomb had two tackles each.
