Giddings Police Report

September 14, 2009

At approximately 8:15 a.m., Officer Griffin completed a report from an incident that occurred at 458 W. Austin, in the parking lot of the complex. A resident of the location reported that 2 of her tires to her vehicle had been damaged by a known subject, but there were no witnesses. No other information.

September 16, 2009

At 11:31 a.m. Officer Ramirez was dispatched to Mr. Liquor Store located at 2434 E. Austin St. to speak with a complainant identified as Danielle Awad in reference to theft of liquor. She stated that two male subjects entered the store Monday night. One male subject kept the clerk distracted as the other male subject was taking bottles of liquor out of the store without paying for them. The total value of the five bottles of liquor is $437.95. Case pending further investigation.

September 16, 2009

At 1:34 p.m., Officer Ramirez was dispatched to the Carmine Feed & Fertilizer located at 196 N. Main St. to speak with a complainant in reference to attempted to theft. Prior to the officer's arrival he was advised by GPD Dispatch that the vehicle drove off eastbound of E. Austin St. The vehicle was described as a gold four-door sedan, which he was not able to locate. The complainant stated that a male subject came in two other times before this and brought back items that were not purchased from that store. The store clerk at the time did not know that the items were not purchased at the store and the male subject was given money for the item that he did not buy there. The same subject came back to the store and attempted to get money back on an item. Case pending further investigation.

September 18, 2009

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Officer Griffin responded to the Lost Pines BBQ located at 1534 E. Austin in reference to 2 vehicles being damaged and broken into. A credit card and cash were stolen from the vehicle that had been entered. This is no suspect information.

September 20, 2009

At 8:23 a.m., Detective Corporal Carvin was dispatched to the East City Park, located at 800 E. Raymond in reference to criminal mischief. The reporting person advised that someone had destroyed the sink and toilet in the men's bathroom at that location. Upon arrival Det. Carvin observed that one sink and one toilet had been destroyed using large tools that were present on scene. City of Giddings parks personnel was dispatched to the location and Det. Carvin was able to view the video surveillance from the incident. Several male subjects were captured on video surveillance entering the bathroom at approximately 2:48 a.m., carrying the tools used to destroy the sink and toilet. The tools were taken as evidence to be processed for latent print evidence. The case is active and under investigation, no further information released at this time.

September 20, 2009

At approximately 7:30 a.m., Detective Corporal Carvin was reporting for duty when she approached the intersection of S. Grimes and E. Hempstead and observed graffiti spray painted on the north side of the Lee County Courthouse. Detective Carvin contacted dispatch to see if the crime had previously been reported. It had not. Dispatch contacted the appropriate persons to come assess the damage and have it removed. Photographs were taken of the damage. Case active and under investigation. No further information to be released at this time.

September 20, 2009

At 1:21 p.m., a resident came into the Giddings Police Department to report that her mailbox had been damaged at her residence located in the 400 block of S. Johnson. Another mailbox next to the reporting resident was also observed to have been damaged, but there were no suspects.
