Buffs Top Wharton
The Giddings Buffalos continued unbeaten in 2009 with a 35-6 whipping of Wharton Friday night. Giddings zipped out to a 28-0 lead and then gained some experience for their backups in the second half.The Buffs will take this week off before playing winless Elgin and Robinson (0-2).
David Bradshaw scored first for Giddings on a 10-yard run. The 10 yards were part of Bradshaw's team leading 74 yards. Corey Brite was next to score for the Buffs on a 15- yard jaunt. Deladrick Britton scored next on a nine-yard run. Marcellus Mack hooked up with quarterback Connor Wehr for a 64-yard scoring pass. Jeremias Delgado added all five PAT kicks for the Buffs. Wehr got the Buffs final score on a 17-yard keeper early in the third quarter.
The Buff defense held Wharton to nothing in the first half. With the reserves playing in the second half, the Tigers were able to record 240 yards of total offense.
