Giddings Police Report

September 7, 2009 At approximately 3:58 p.m. Officer Ramirez was dispatched to 1676 E. Hempstead St., #5 to speak with a complainant in reference to burglary of habitation. Upon arrival he met with the complainant who stated that someone made forced entry through the front door of the residence and took some clothing items and an imitation Nintendo Wii. The complainant stated that the incident occurred sometime between 9/6/09 at approximately 9:00 p.m. and 9/7/ 09 at approximately 2:00 p.m. Case pending further investigation.

September 8, 2009

At approximately 9/26 a.m. Officer Harrison received a call from dispatch in reference to counterfeit twenty dollar bill at Classic Bank. Upon arrival, he spoke with Laura Behrens, a representative from the bank who noticed the counterfeit bill. The bill was given to the bank from Dairy Queen over the weekend. The bill was placed into evidence.

September 8, 2009 At 3:03 p.m. Officer Ramirez and Officer Harrison were dispatched to the Dollar General Store located at 2440 E. Austin St. in reference to theft. The female that was described was located and items were located in her purse. She was identified as Jennifer Patterson. She stated that she was not intending to pay for the items. Store manager wished to pursue charges. The items taken were valued at $16.72. A citation was issued along with a criminal trespass warning against Patterson. Case cleared.

September 9, 2009

At 1:54 p.m. Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop on a gold Saturn 4-D for a traffic violation occurring in the 500 block of E. Austin. The driver, Daniel Ray Cable of Giddings was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid/ Suspended, transported to the Lee County Sheriff 's Office and released. No other information.

September 11, 2009 At 1:58 p.m., Officer Harrison met with Bridget Cook at the Giddings Police Dept. Ms. Cook stated that she had been assaulted by William Love at her home. Officer Harrison visited her residence and found that Mr. Love was still there. He was in violation of an active Criminal Trespass Warning. Mr. Love was arrested for Criminal Trespass of a Habitation and transported to the Lee County Jail without incident. Assault charges are pending.

September 11, 2009

At 3:02 p.m. Officer Ramirez was dispatched to Wal-Mart located at 2374 E. Austin to speak with a complainant in reference to burglary of a vehicle. Upon arrival he met with the complainant, identified as Elizabeth Lopez whom stated that someone took a DVD player and two small bags of coins with approximately $200.00 worth of coins. Lopez does not know if she had locked her truck. There were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle. Officer Ramirez spoke with the manager of Wal-Mart and they are attempting to obtain video from the parking lot. Case pending further information.

September 12, 2009

At 11:48 a.m., Officer Connolly was dispatched to the Texas Grand Ballroom in reference to a car window had been broken out. Upon arrival and after speaking to the complainant, officers Connolly and Spencer had learned that a purse was taken out of the vehicle. This matter is still under investigation.

September 12, 2009

At 1:16 a.m., Officers Spencer and Connolly were dispatched to 655 W. Brenham in reference to a burglary of habitation. Karen Wade reported that someone had forced entry into her residence and stole property from inside. The case is currently under investigation.

September 12, 2009

At 5:11 p.m., Officer Harrison received a call from dispatch in reference to burglary located at 383 N. Burleson St. Upon arrival, he spoke with the victim, Cruz Escalon, who stated that two male subjects entered his house around 1 a.m. on September 12 and in Spanish, demanded money. Mr. Escalon gave the suspects approximately $300. Both subjects left the residence in an unknown direction.

September 13, 2009

At 1:16 a.m., Officer Connolly was advised by dispatch that a reporting party had called and advised that there was a red Chevy pickup with lights on top traveling Eastbound on W. Hwy 290 about to enter the city limits, and the vehicle was swerving all over the roadway. Officer Connolly located the vehicle and observed the vehicle swerving from lane to lane. He conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of S. Burleson. The driver, W/M/ Juan Ramirez was found to be intoxicated and was transported to Lee County Jail for DWI.
