Peggy Brown (left) and Tana Renfroe are heading up the Project for Helmet Liners in the Lexington area and they are looking for volunteers who enjoy knitting or crocheting and would like to help in their project. The ladies are seen here holding two different examples of the liners. Volunteers are being sought for knitting or crocheting helmet liners out of 100% wool for our servicemen deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq. Anyone interested is welcome to join in this project. These liners are warmer, fit better, and are more comfortable to wear than the issued gear. They are also less flammable in case of an incident.

Members of the American Legion Auxiliary, individuals, and the Rotary Club have donated funds for wool yarn for this project. If anyone is interested in helping with the project, please contact Tana's Shoppe of Beauty, 773-4031 for yarn and patterns of both crochet and knitting.

All of the helmet liners will be collected at Tana's Shoppe of Beauty and mailed to Yarnhaven, 1300 W. Arkansas, Arlington Texas 76013. If you have any questions please call Peggy Brown at 773- 2638.
