Swim Fest at Down Home Ranch
Down Home Ranch, a working farm and ranch for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (such as Down syndrome) hosts its fifth annual Swim Fest Monday, September 7 from 10:00-2:00.
The 21 residents of Down Home Ranch and their team buddies swim, hop, float, or walk a collective mile in the Ranch pool to raise money for the residents' annual vacation, this year, as in years past, a four-day cruise aboard the Carnival Ecstasy through the Western Caribbean to Cozumel.
Each residential house competes for the year's Swim Fest trophy by raising funds. The house raising the most money wins the trophy, but every resident shares equally in enjoying the fruits of the event.
The Fest takes place at the DHR pool area and the public is welcome to attend. The Parade of Costumes takes place at 9:30 AM and the Make a Mile Swim begins at 10:00 AM. Concessions and Free Swim open at 11:00.
This year's Swim Fest trophy will be awarded at 1:00 PM.
Down Home Ranch is located at 20250 FM 619 between Taylor and Elgin, Texas. Go to www.downhomeranch.org for additional information on Down Home Ranch, directions, or to donate to the Swim Fest, or call Judy Horton at 888-926-2253.
