Buffs Host LaVernia

by Mike Organ

The LaVernia Bears come to Lee County Friday night. The Bears return five offensive and three defensive starters from last season's 10-2 club. The two losses were to Giddings and in the Area finals. The Bears have good size and decent speed in their top athletes. The offensive line will average over 230 lbs. and the defense will be keyed by 6'1" 195 lb. linebacker Nolan Mills.

This could be a night of passing, since QB Seth Grubb had 1,257 yards passing last season. He has some young wide receivers to pass the ball and Coach Bo Robinson is a big proponent of the ground game. He has some experienced linemen like guard Victor Buitrago (6'2", 290 lbs) to run behind.

This will be a sterner test for the Buffs than Liberty Hill, but Giddings should prevail by a comfortable margin.
