Blinn VP of Brazos Co. Campuses Retires
Blinn College vice president of Brazos County campuses, Dr. Barbara L. Pearson, retired after 37 years with the college. The announcement was made this week to faculty and staff as they prepared for the fall semester to start on Aug. 31.
Pearson began her career with Blinn as a history instructor in 1972 when the Bryan branch campus was housed in the Kraft Building downtown. She served in a variety of positions including bookstore manager, academic advisor, and assistant campus director before being promoted to campus director in 1991 and vice president in 1995.
"We all owe her a debt of gratitude for her exemplary dedication to higher education, Blinn, and our community," Blinn president Dr. Dan Holt said. "She helped make Blinn the best two-year college in the state and set the stage for greater things in the future."
Pearson holds a Bachelor of Sciences in Secondary Education from the University of North Texas and a master's and a doctorate in history from Texas A&M University. Her husband, Dr. Phil Pearson, also taught at Blinn and retired in 2007.
