Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

What is happening in Lee County? The football teams are taking to the air to gobble up yardage faster than ever. Lexington and Giddings are looking for the quick strike to take advantage of their speed. 'Speed Kills' is a term used in driving and drug ads. It can mean something completely different in football. If you have it, you have the upper hand in the way the game is played today, unless you are Liberty Hill.

Based on the previous statement, look for Lago Vista to be the surprise team in 25-AA this fall.

Rogers, on the other hand, did not do well in the district track meet in the spring, so they may have more L's than expected.

Giddings is the surprise team for using the pass. As I said last week, you will still have to stop the running game to beat the Buffs, but with the passing game, they may be able to use more of their superior team speed to bomb opponents.

Coach Robertson is being patient and supportive as the volfor leyball girls get off to a slow start, record-wise. The girls are showing progress, which is what they will need to do to be competitive in district action later in the season.
