The Eagles had an impressive night Friday night against Thorndale in their final scrimmage of the 2009 season. Coach Jason Holcomb was pleased with the progress made in the workouts between the Caldwell scrimmage and Friday night's showing. "Both quarterbacks showed improvement in their decision making and physical reactions. There are still some kinks we have to work on, both Landon and Josh are committed to correcting them," said Holcomb.

The Eagles outscored the Bulldogs in the scrimmage, but that was only for the fans keeping score. The scrimmage lets the coaches find out what needs additional attention so it can be addressed before the next outing.

Defensively, Holcomb said,"The defense really used their speed to get to the ball quickly. The Sherrill twins led the hustling defense against the run. We are continuing to get better each week. The defense was very physical against Thorndale. We were fortunate not to have anyone injured as we head into the season."

There were a couple of errors in pass coverage that will be corrected before opening the season in Smithville Friday night.
