Gamma Omega Chapter News

The Gamma Omega Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met August 15, 2009 in the fellowship hall of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. President Heather Smith presided over the business meeting with 50 members present.

Patsy Ashorn read the Mission Statement and the Collect. Mary Ann Novosad led the pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Texas Flag, the meditation was ready by Carole Fry.

The program "Passion for the Arts: The Art of Floral Design" was presented by Rod Voncent. The group learned and made floral arrangements for tables. These floral arrangements were given to Hospice. Cheryl Pritchett led in the back to school songs and "The Delta Kappa Gamma Song".

Shelly Niese, recording secretary, provided each member with a copy of the April minutes which were approved as written. The budget for 2009-2010 was presented by Carolyn Golan and approved. President Smith reported on the 80th Alpha State Convention held in Corpus Christi during June. Committee reports included: Carolyn Golan - Finance; Mackie Meyer - Membership; Jennifer Mohr - Program of Work and Service Project; Patsy Ashorn - Archives; Pat Olney - Legislative; Edna Chambers - Communications; Melanie Conway - Achievement; Gail Schroeder - Yearbook.

Hostesses for the meeting were the Bellview members. Thanks for a wonderful brunch, ladies. The Door Prize won by Glenda Appling was brought by Gladys Avis. Perfect Attendance won by Shelly Neise was brought by Treva Bullard. The meeting was closed by singing "The Delta Kappa Gamma Song." President Smith reminded everyone that the next meeting will be October 3, 2009, and the hostesses will be Caldwell and Somerville.

Members from Lee County included: Barbara Webb, Jennifer Mohr, Thelma Hinze, Connie Moss, Kathy Boettcher, Denise Brademann, Trudy Holland and Sara Garrison.
