Experience of a Life Time for Lexington Youth

Lexington 8th grader Derek Dane returned last week from New York's Cooperstown Dreams Park, the home of the greatest youth baseball venue in the Nation. Teams from all across the USA and Canada accounted for the 104 teams attending The July 17-24 session. As a team, Texas Heat finished in the middle of the pack.

Derek's personal achievements including playing against seven teams from seven different states and one team from Canada. Derek saw the mound three times in games against Illinois, Arizona and Canada where he recorded one win, one save and a no decision.

Derek gave up 14 hits in 210 pitches while striking out 14 and allowing one base on balls, ending up with a 1.50 ERA.

Derek had a .471 batting average with a .588 on base and a .588 slugging percentage. All players were inducted into the Youth Baseball Hall of Fame and presented a Youth Baseball Hall of Fame Ring.
