Lady Eagles VB Begins
Coach Tiffany Robertson welcomed her charges to the court Monday morning at 7:00 AM the beginning of the 2009 season. The players spent the first two hours doing conditioning drills and lifting weights. Volleyball is much more demanding than it appears to the casual observer.
The girls worked on strength for hitting the ball with authority. They worked on leg strength for the continuous jumping necessary when the players are at the net and to increase their height jumped on each effort.
The agility drills they did will help them get to hard hit balls they might otherwise not have reached. The aspiring or perspiring young ladies worked in these areas from 7:00 to 9:00 am.
An hour break allowed them to recover some. Next on the agenda was volleyball skills necessary for winning enough games to possibly make the playoffs this season after failing to make the postseason for the first time in three years.
