Giddings Police Report

July 27, 2009

While on routine patrol at approximately 3:58 a.m., Officer Ray observed a vehicle failing to maintain a single lane of traffic in the 3000 blk of E. Austin. Standardized field sobriety testing was conducted and the driver, Beau Hemmer, was arrested for driving while intoxicated Class B.

July 27, 2009

At approximately 8:35 a.m., Officer Harrison received a call from dispatch in reference to a burglary at Shade Tree Apartment Complex. The owner of the complex, Rebecca Musser, arrived and noticed that a Shop Vacuum and an 18 our Bud Light had been stolen. Ms. Musser didn't notice anything else missing. The case is under investigation.

July 28, 2009

At approximately 1:38 p.m., Officer Harrison received a call from dispatch in reference to a theft at the new High School. Upon arrival, he spoke with the victim, Craig Weaver, who stated that he went to lunch at approximately 12:00 noon and left his drill sitting near his work site located in the High School. When Mr. Weaver returned he noticed that his drill had been stolen.

July 29, 2009

At approximately 12:05 p.m., Officer Connolly was dispatched to the 1200 block of E. Austin (Sonic) in reference to a Hit and Run involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, Officer Connolly spoke to the complainant, Mrs. Jenke, who explained that while she was at Sonic in a parking space, a light colored vehicle parked beside her and started backing out. The vehicle side-swiped her car, then drove off. Officer Connolly, with the help from the community, was able to identify the other vehicle along with the driver. Officer Connolly made contact with the other involved party and the matter is still under investigation.

July 29, 2009

At approximately 10:56 p.m., Sgt. Ramsey received a call from dispatch in reference to a minor drinking in the Texas Grand Ballroom. An employee of TGB caught a male subject, later identified as Quinton Allen contributing alcohol to a minor. Officer Brewster and Officer Ray assisted on the call. Sgt. Ramsey met with Allen and the minor in the TGB parking lot. Allen was charged with making alcohol available to a minor and the minor was charged with minor in possession of alcohol.

July 30, 2009

While on routine patrol, Officer Ray, Sgt. Ramsey, and Officer Brewster arrived in the 1600 blk of E. Hempstead to serve a parole violation warrant on Beau Hemmer. Subject was detained and the warrant was confirmed. Subject was transported to Lee County Jail.

July 31, 2009

While on routine patrol at approximately 1:17 a.m., Officer Ray was dispatched to 1676 E. Hempstead in reference to a burglary of a residence. The victim Lataurio Sanders reported that while she was away from her home someone entered her home and went through most of her things, but did not steal anything.

At 1:10 p.m., Officer Spencer was dispatched to the Sonic Drive- In in reference to a theft. Nona Brooks reported that a male customer had received his food and left the property without paying the bill. The suspect left in a red Suburban. The subject was described as an older white male. The case is under investigation.

July 31, 2009

At approximately 2:48 p.m., Officer Griffin initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at the E. Calvert/ N. Main intersection for a traffic violation. The driver, Carlos Antonio Salazar-Santillan of Giddings was cited for No Drivers License and No Insurance and released. The vehicle's owner, Carmen Villegas Mata of Giddings was called to pick up her vehicle, but was wanted out of Bastrop County for a theft warrant. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Lee county Sheriff's Office and released.
