Lexington High School Band Director, Joey Guess, is one of dozens of actors, actresses, singers, dancers, musicians and backstage workers from all over Central Texas, who have converged on Cameron this summer to stage one of Broadway's most beloved shows, The Sound of Music.

"They've come from all over," said Bill Whitmire, president of Milam Community Theatre who is stage-managing the show. "People want to be a part of this show. We had a huge turnout for auditions."

"They've worked very hard," said director San Lorenz. "We've got some wonderful singers and some great actors. We're going to have a marvelous show as a result."

The show opens 7:30 p.m. Saturday Aug. 1 at Cameron ISD's Performing Arts Center. Other performances are set for Sunday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m., Saturday Aug. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 9 and 2 p.m. For more info, go to milamcommunitytheater.com
