Olivia Frieda Goerlitz
Olivia Frieda Gregor Goerlitz was born on January 1, 1917 in Brenham, Texas to August A. and Frieda (Fieseler) Gregor. She was raised in the Berlin community. She graduated from Brenham High School in 1935. On March 3, 1940 she was united in marriage to Frank C. Goerlitz in Berlin, Texas.
Olivia loved to work in her flower garden and enjoyed baking and reading. Most of all she enjoyed and loved her family. She was employed for several years at Bages Grocery Store in Giddings as a clerk. Olivia was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings.
Funeral services for Olivia Frieda Goerlitz, 92, of Giddings were held Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings, with Rev. Jeremy Walloch offficiating. Burial followed in Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation Thursday from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
Olivia Goerlitz was preceded in death by her parents August and Frieda Gregor and her loving husband Frank C. Goerlitz.
She is survived by her children, Eugene Goerlitz of Brenham, Daniel and wife, Betty Goerlitz of Brenham, Ernie and wife, Alice Goerlitz of Giddings, Elaine and husband Mike Kroll of Brenham and Lisa and husband, Jeffrey Fillmore of Bryan; grandchildren, Kim Meyer, Shelia Able, Jason Goerlitz, Tammy Burnett, Franklin Goerlitz, Olivia Borgstedte, Janet Zapalac, Patty Goerlitz, Brandon Kroll, Bryan Kroll, Jeffrey Fillmore and Jonathan Fillmore; great grandchildren, McKenzie Meyer, Madison Meyer, Ashley Able, Hyden Able, Christina Burnett, Taylor Goerlitz, Carter Burnett, Nichole Borgstedte and Benjamin Zapalac; great,great grandchild, Tanner Jayce Fillmore; brothers and sisters, Almont (A.J) Gregor of Robstown, Mildred Helm of Brenham, Rev. Milroy Gregor of New Ulm, Edith Lehmann of Brenham and Luther Gregor of Brenham; caretaker, Terry Cisneros of Giddings as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials can be given to the Alzheimers Society.
Serving as pallbearers: Franklin Goerlitz, Jason Goerlitz, Brandon Kroll, Jeffrey Fillmore, Jonathan Fillmore and Bryan Kroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Almont Gregor, Rev. Milroy Gregor, Luther Gregor, Eugene Goerlitz, Daniel Goerlitz and Ernie Goerlitz.
