Sheriff 's Report
July 6, 2009
The Sheriff's Office received a call from a resident who reported fence damage on CR 232. Deputy Robertson took a report and investigation continues.
A motorist reported a brown Chevrolet S-10 truck had passed him in a no passing zone and nearly ran him off the road. Caller was following the vehicle down FM 141 in Dime Box. Deputy Lapham and Deputy Crockett located and stopped the vehicle for reckless driving.
Deputy Robertson was dispatched to check on two subjects that were reportedly driving 4-wheelers recklessly at the corner of CR 111 and CR 114.
Deputy Durrenberger spoke to a caller that had information regarding a stolen wallet. When the deputy showed up at the residence no one was home.
July 7, 2009
Motorists reported a male subject standing beside his truck attempting to flag people down. Deputy Aderhold located the subject and reported that he had run out of gas.
A caller reported a one vehicle accident on Hwy 290 West. The caller advised that the vehicle ran off the road and had gone through a fence. Deputy York and Deputy Robertson searched Hwy 290 past the county line but did not locate any wreck. Bastrop County was notified.
Deputy Lapham responded to a grass fire on CR 402 in Dime Box. The fire was getting close to a mobile home.
The Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call regarding a multi car collision on Hwy 290 East. Chief Deputy Kothmann, Deputy York and Deputy Robertson assisted with traffic control.
Deputy Durrenberger and Deputy Aderhold spoke to a subject from out of town who requested someone check on her grandchildren. She reported that she received a text message from them and they were asking for help.
Giddings Police Department passed on information to Deputy Durrenberger regarding a child abuse case. Investigation continues.
A motorist reported a red SUV pulling a trailer with no tail lights. The vehicle was southbound on Hwy 77. Deputy Aderhold located the vehicle and advised the driver of the situation.
A citizen reported a suspicious vehicle parked in her driveway on CR 415. Deputy Durrenberger and Deputy Aderhold were dispatched to the scene. The vehicle had left prior to their arrival.
July 8, 2009
Bastrop County transferred a call from a motorist who wanted to report a strong odor of natural gas on Hwy 290 West near Hills. Deputy Robertson checked out the area and did not locate any strong odor.
A resident reported a stray horse on her property on CR 306. She advised it has a red halter and seems to be in poor shape. She is going to feed it and Deputy Lapham is attempting to find the owner.
A motorist reported a vehicle broken down on Hwy 290 West and the female driver was attempting to flag people down. Deputy Lapham and Deputy Robertson located the vehicle and advised they would give the driver a courtesy ride to town to purchase gas.
Deputy Carvin was dispatched to a one vehicle accident on FM 1697 just before the bridge. Unknown if there were any injuries.
July 9, 2009
Deputy Lapham put up several head of cattle on CR 401 @ FM 696.
The Sheriff's Office received a call from a mother stating that her 13-year-old daughter has run away and is possibly with a young male and he refuses to tell her where she is at.
A caller reported to Deputy Durrenberger that he was having on-going problems with his neighbors' dogs. They have over 30 dogs and they are constantly barking. The deputy spoke to both parties and they agreed to work something out.
Deputy Durrenberger and Deputy Carvin assisted a motorist that was broken down on Hwy 77 North near the Elm Creek Bridge. The driver was given a courtesy ride to town.
July 10, 2009
A resident reported an abandoned vehicle on FM 619 just before Post Oak. The caller reported it had been parked there since the previous Sunday. Deputy Lapham checked out the vehicle and attempted to make contact with the owner.
Deputy York was dispatched to a residence on CR 326 to check out a suspicious vehicle that was at a residence.
A complainant on CR A and CR B reported that someone was shooting off bottle rockets into the air and they were afraid they might cause a fire. Deputy Durrenberger was dispatched but he was unable to locate anyone shooting off fireworks.
A caller reported that her juvenile daughter had snuck out of the house and met 3 or 4 juvenile boys out at the road. When she went outside the boys ran off into the woods and left their bikes. She advised she loaded up the bikes on her truck and will keep them until the parents pick them up.
Deputy Crockett met with a complainant on CR 326 who reported that a group of juveniles broke out all the windows on vehicles that were parked at the junk yard. A report was made. Investigation continues.
July 11, 2009
The Sheriff's Office received several complainants regarding people blocking the road on FM 180 where there was a calf roping going on. Deputy Aderhold was dispatched.
Deputy Aderhold responded to a one vehicle accident on FM 448. Trooper Thorp was dispatched to the scene along with EMS.
Deputy Carvin put up several cows that were out on CR 401 approx. ½ mile from FM 696 East.
July 12, 2009
A resident on FM 141 reported that a male subject knocked on his front door wanting gas for his truck. Deputy Aderhold located the subject and assisted him.
A caller requested a deputy to speak to the driver of an 18- wheeler blocking his driveway. Deputy Crockett was dispatched but the caller called back and advised the vehicle had left.
Deputy Crockett spoke to a complainant on FM 2239 who reported that someone had broken out the window of her vehicle. She advised that there were fingerprints all over the hood. Investigation continues.
The Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 call regarding a large grass fire on Hwy 77 South. Deputy Carvin stopped an 18-wheeler that was throwing sparks from his rear axle. The driver had no idea that he had a broken axle that was causing the fires.
Deputy Durrenberger was dispatched to CR 213 after a caller reported that she located a box of medicine and syringes on the side of the road.
A female motorist requested assistance changing her flat tire. Deputy Aderhold located her on Hwy 290 West and assisted her.
