Forest Grove News

by Lu Spence

The lead news story continues to be the drought and heat. Perhaps our area will be blessed with late summer rains in the near future.

Word was received about the death of Ernestine (Mrs. Bennie) Owens. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 at the Forest Grove Christian Church. We send our sincere sympathy to the family of Mrs. Owens during this time of sadness.

We would remind the family of Ollie and Alice Kyle to come to the Forest Grove Fellowship hall on Saturday evening, July 18 for the annual Kyle/Alford reunion.

Recent visitors with Doris Havard and the Fiedler family were Ken, Lynn and Amber Havard of Kellar. Amber remained for an extended visit and when she returned home on Thursday, Destiny and Sierra Fiedler also traveled to Kellar for a few days' visit with Amber and her family.

Doris Havard, Lanell and Lu Spence enjoyed a recent afternoon at the Quilt Show in Temple.

Visiting Hollins and Denyce Spence and Claude and Lanell Spence were Erick, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Evan and Ely Gilbert of Fairfield; Dallas Spence of Oklahoma.

Also visiting Claude and Lanell were Brittany and Baylee Wall of Rockdale; Billy and Nora Light of Cameron.

We would remind the Jr. and Sr. High youth of Forest Grove to bring a friend and enjoy the video night from 6:00 to 8:00 on Wednesday, July 15.

Recent visitors with Rod and Lu Spence were five of the Tomball FFA Officers and grandaughter, Heather Rahm. Also visiting were Rick and Kathy Vaculin of Rockdale.

Spence and Heather Rahm; Chris Prinz, Robby Goldsmith; Brett Sterrett all of Tomball enjoyed several days with "Gootch and Papaw".

We would remind everyone that the annual Forest Grove Revival will begin on July 27 starting at 7:00 pm. Revival speaker will be Dennis Smith of Bandera, a former minister of Forest Grove.
