9-10 year old All-Star Summary
The 9-10 year old Lee County All-Star team won their first two games of the playoffs. They beat Rice 2-0 on Monday night and Bellville 18-9 on Tuesday night.
In the Rice victory, Nathanael Clifford, Trevor Patschke, and Brooks Kasper combined to pitch a one hitter. The trio struck out 12 in route to the victory. Clifford pitched the first four innings. Kasper had a hit and Joshua Berry drove in a run.
After a close game on Monday, night, June 29, Tuesday night was a completely different story. Bellville and Lee County came out swinging the bats. Carson Becker, Joshua Berry, Trevor Patschke, and DaCota Kauffman combined to pitch a six hitter.
The mound contingent struck out 13 Bellville batsmen. Leading hitters for Lee County were: Brooks Kasper (2 for 2 and 3 walks), Colton Wagner (2 for 2), Joshua Berry (3 for 4 including a home run and two doubles), Nathaniel Clifford (2 for 2) and Jacob Townsend (1 for 2).
Lee County lost to Twin Cities (Flatonia and Schulenburg) 17-6 Monday night.
The youngsters now face the prospect of playing every night to play in the championship game. The 9 & 10 year old Stars play in Bellville at 8 p.m. Tuesday night to start their odyssey. Go Lee County All Stars!
