Sheriff 's Report

June 29, 2009

Milam County reported an oversized load coming towards Giddings on Hwy 77 that was swerving all over the roadway. Deputy Easley located the vehicle and spoke to the driver.

Deputy Easley was dispatched to assist with traffic control on FM 696. Several callers reported a truck on fire approx 3.5 miles west of Lexington.

A motorist reported a dark gray car in the ditch on Hwy 77 @ CR 220. Deputy Carvin checked out the vehicle and reported that the vehicle was abandoned but well off the roadway. It had a flat tire.

A caller reported a subject was driving around Lincoln shining his headlights into the Walch Store. He was driving a maroon Ford F150 truck in the grass behind the store. Deputy Carvin located the vehicle at Hwy 290 @ Hwy 77. The subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

June 30, 2009

A neighbor reported that the people on PR 8032 were in the process of moving out of a house and had left dogs on the premises without food or water or shelter from the sun. Deputy Lapham located the dog's owner and the situation was taken care of.

Deputy Aderhold was dispatched to a residence in Dime Box to check on the welfare of dogs that had no food or water.

A concerned citizen reported that there was a horse on the corner of Hwy 21 and FM 2440 that appeared to be in bad shape. Deputy Lapham was dispatched and spoke to the owner.

A resident on PR 7715 reported two suspicious vehicles that had been parked at the end of her driveway. Deputy Lapham was given a description of the vehicles. The caller reported back to the Sheriff's Office that the vehicles belonged to the people that were working on her brother's bulldozer.

Deputy Carvin spoke to a citizen who reported missing property from his residence. A report was made and investigation continues.

Deputy Easley responded to a verbal disturbance on CR 107. The subjects were arguing over an incident that occurred last Friday. The parties were separated for the night.

A truck driver reported approx 30 head of cattle out on CR 124 at the bridge. Deputy Easley and Deputy Carvin responded and put the cows up at 1545 FM 1697.

July 1, 2009

Deputy York spoke to a complainant at the Sheriff's Office involving a civil matter.

Deputy York transported an inmate to a local doctor's appointment.

Deputy Aderhold followed B&M ambulance while they transported an inmate to the Austin Heart Hospital.

A concerned citizen reported that someone was shooting bottle rockets somewhere on CR 227 or CR 228. Deputy Durrenberger checked on the situation and spoke to the residents on CR 228.

A caller reported that she heard gun shots on Scenic View Dr. in Lexington. Deputy Easley was dispatched but was unable to locate anyone shooting. He stayed and patrolled the area for a while.

July 2, 2009

A caller reported that she was having problems with her juvenile son. He was throwing rocks and dirt at her and cursing. Deputy Lapham was dispatched to CR E and spoke to the complainant and her son.

Captain Gonzales and Deputy Lapham were dispatched to a burglar alarm at a residence. Upon arrival it appeared that the front door had been forced open. After contacting the home owner, the deputies were advised that the door was previously damage.

A landowner reported that there was a group of goats on his property that did not belong to him and he was upset because they were eating his cattle's grass. Deputy Robertson and Deputy Durrenberger located the owner of the goats and gave him a verbal warning.

July 3, 2009

A motorist reported that someone had dropped three or four round bales of hay on Hwy 77 south. Deputy Lapham and Deputy Carvin were dispatched and advised to call TXDOT because the bales were completely blocking southbound traffic.

A caller advised that she heard an explosion on Deer Valley Dr. A second caller reported that her neighbor's house was on fire and it was unknown if anyone was inside. Deputy Crockett was dispatched to the scene and upon arrival reported that the grass and trees behind the residence were also on fire. Blue and Lexington Fire Dept. responded to the scene. It was later determined that the house was vacant.

Deputy Robertson was dispatched to CR 205 after a residence reported a suspicious vehicle driving slowly down the road. The vehicle was located and the driver was identified and released. Subject was from Giddings and was just out driving.

A motorist reported a dark colored passenger car was driving on Hwy 290 and was swerving on the road. Deputy Robertson and Deputy Durrenberger attempted to locate the vehicle. Trooper Weiser stopped the vehicle at the east city limits. The driver was identified and released.

A passing motorist reported two round bales of hay in the southbound lane of traffic on Hwy 77 just before FM 1624. Deputy Carvin checked on the situation and advised the hay had already been removed from the road.

July 4, 2009

Deputy Durrenberger and Deputy Robertson were dispatched to a domestic disturbance on Willow Creek Dr in Elgin. The caller stated that her boyfriend was out of control. He head butted her and was fighting with the neighbors. The couple was separated for the night.

The Sheriff's Office received a call from a subject stating that her parent's well is leaking and she could not find a phone number for someone to cap it. Chief Deputy Kothmann arrived at the scene and gave dispatch a number to call and the well was capped.

Deputy Crockett was dispatched to PR 3096 after a caller reported that her juvenile daughter left her house on foot and was probably going to her boyfriend's house. The deputy spoke to both parties.

A motorist reported a male subject wearing a red shirt and blue jeans was walking down the middle of Hwy 290 West just outside the city limits. Chief Deputy Kothmann advised dispatch that the subject was no longer in the middle of the highway.

Deputy Carvin assisted the Giddings Police attempt to locate a Toyota 4 runner that was involved in an accident and had left the scene eastbound on Hwy 290.

A motorist reported cows out on CR 133 at CR 116. Deputy Robertson responded and removed them from the roadway.

A resident reported that someone was shooting bottle rockets on CR 309. Deputy Carvin responded but was unable to locate anyone shooting fireworks.

Deputy Durrenberger was dispatched to the fairgrounds after a caller reported that someone hit his truck with a beer bottle.

July 5, 2009

Chief Deputy Kothmann was dispatched to a residential burglar alarm. The residence was found to be secure.

A caller advised that the well behind her house on FM 180 is leaking and spewing liquid all over the place. Dispatch contacted Browning Oil Company to respond. Deputy Aderhold waited on scene for the repairman.

Deputy Durrenberger searched for a vehicle on Hwy 21 at FM 141 that was reportedly parked on the wrong side of the road. Trooper Weiser and the deputy did not locate any vehicle at that location.

The Lee County Dispatchers received 297 calls for service for the month of June. Sheriff 's officers investigated three Burglaries, four Thefts and two Assault cases for this same time period. No major accidents were reported for the 4th of July weekend. Reward for Information on Crimes in Lee County. 1-866- 930-TIPS (8477)
