House Fire Destroys Home and Contents
No injuries, but cause unknown
Last Friday afternoon the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department responded to an alarm in the Willow Creek Subdivision, near the Lee/Bastrop County line. The intial report was that a singlewide mobile home had exploded and it was feared that six people were inside. Full Story
Offer Made on Bank Building
Lexington City Council members Lori Barnikow and Tony Tavary met with Tommy Jatzlau, Lee County Regional President of Prosperity Bank, last Friday to make an offer on the old bank building located downtown on the Square. Texas Tornadoes of Lee County Bring Home National Championship
The Texas Tornadoes returned home Saturday night, July 4, with smiles on their faces. Autumn Hall, Jana Torn, Katie Turner, and Kayla Turner bring home a National Championship title in Equestrian Color Guard. The teams were competing against 13 out-of-state teams and over 16 teams from Texas. Full Story
Summer League Basketball Report
The summer basketball teams coached by Byron Wren had a very productive summer. The boys finished 8-4 for the season. Lexington was very competitive in the league. The flow of the games was very fast paced which helps the incoming freshmen get used to the difference in the speed of the high school game. Full Story

9-10 year old All-Star Summary
The 9-10 year old Lee County All-Star team won their first two games of the playoffs. They beat Rice 2-0 on Monday night and Bellville 18-9 on Tuesday night. In the Rice victory, Nathanael Clifford, Trevor Patschke, and Brooks Kasper combined to pitch a one hitter. The trio struck out 12 in route to the victory. Clifford pitched the first four innings. Spacek to Compete in National Event
Hannah Spacek from College Station will be representing Texas in the National Pitch, Hit & Run competition in St. Louis, Missouri, during the Major League Baseball Home Run Derby on July 13th at Busch Stadium. Hannah won the local competition in College Station, participated in the sectional contest, and was then invited to the super regional in Austin, which she won. Full Story

Mary Montoya was born August 6, 1921 in Milam County, Texas to Raymond and Guadalupe Loredo Castillo. On November 11, 1950, she and Oscar B. Montoya were married in Rockdale.
