The University of Texas Longhorns weren't the only Texas team in Omaha, Nebraska last week who were playing for a championship. 12U Action Baseball Club out of Georgetown left Texas on June 17 in search of a Triple Crown 12U National Championship in Omaha and they found it!

After going 2 and 1 in pool play, Action began putting it all together one game at a time. By Sunday evening, Action had a 6-1 record for the tournament and had won a National Championship, outscoring their opponents 55 to 6 and allowing only one run in four elimination games.

Lexington Middle School student Derek Dane is a member of Action. He plays first base, third base, left and right field and also pitches. Individually for this tournament, Derek had a .500 batting average, with a two-run homer to start elimination play. He had a .533 on-base percentage and a .714 slugging percentage. In pitching, Derek allowed one hit, one walk and no runs.
