PTO Volunteers Work to Improve Playground

Saturday, June 13th was a hot and busy day at the Elementary Campus. Volunteers gathered to make PTO's goal of a better playground a reality. PTO approved Mr. Scantlin to be in charge of the hands-on part of the playground improvement project. He spent all day Friday spreading loads of dirt to make Saturday's workday much easier. Mulch was spread to complete a small running track around the entire playground. Drive by and take a look. It's an improvement, but there is still more work to be done. More dirt will be delivered and spread. PTO plans to plant grass seed in hopes for a grassy playground by the start of school. The smaller playground on campus has also benefited from PTO's efforts. PTO purchased a Merry-go-Cycle and a John Deere tractor for the students to play on. All of this is possible because of the students, parents, and members of our community who supported the PTO spring fundraiser. With this support the organization raised the necessary funds to move forward with this project. Thank you! This project wouldn't be where it is today without parents and staff volunteering their time during their busy summer break or without Mr. Scantlin and his knowledge, assistance, and dedication to this project. A huge thank you to Mr. Scantlin and to all the volunteers, PTO is very appreciative of your support!! We wish you all a fun and safe summer!

On a hot Saturday, PTO volunteers worked to make improvements to the playground at Lexington Elementary School. From the smiles on the faces of these "testers" shown above, it appears that the improvements meet with their approval.
