Mrs. Lee County Wins 4th at State Pageant
Leigh Blankenburg, Mrs. Lee County International 2009, competed in the Mrs. Texas International pageant in San Antonio, Texas on March 22, 2009 at the Scottish Rite Auditorium. Blankenburg was a contestant among 26 total married women.
The pageant weekend began on Friday March 20, 2009 with the orientation.
On Saturday March 21, Blankenburg participated in the personal interview portion of the pageant worth 40 percent of her total score. She spoke with five judges for five minutes each.
Rehearsals for the Mrs. Texas International pagent began on Sunday March 22 in the morning. The pagent opened Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. with dance number featuring all of the contestants.
Following the dance, contestants competed in the fitness portion of the pageant before concluding the evening with the gown portion. During the gown competition, Mrs. Lee County's husband, Charles "Ace" Blankenburg, wearing a tux, escorted her across the stage.
For the rest of the year, she will continue to advocate for Breastfeeding Educaton and Awareness here locally as Mrs. Lee County.
Some of the items Blankenburg aspires to do to promote her platform are to become a La Leche League Leader (LLL) and start a LLL group here in Lee County. She and her husband are also working on completing the train- ing to become a Teaching Couple for Couple to Couple League to teach Natural Family Planning courses in Lee County.
Blankenburg is also promoting healthy dietary guidelines for pregnant and nursing women through the Weston A. Price Foundation.
She is available to make appearances throughout the 2009 year as Mrs. Lee County International.
