Following a brief opening ceremony for this year's Relay for Life, the Survivors begin their first lap around Buffalo Stadium for the 12-hour marathon that began at 7 p.m. Friday night and continued until 7 a.m. Saturday morning. With the donations still coming in, this year's Lee County Relay for Life looks to raise at least as much as they did last year. While the stands were almost empty during the opening ceremony due to a mass-exidus from town in order to follow the Giddings Buffalos to the State Baseball Tourney being held that same night, spirits were high and confident that this year's event will provide much needed funds for the continued effort to fight cancer.
Here are a few shots from Friday night's event.
