Lexington Athletes Perform Well at State
Courtney Jackson threw the discus 121'11" to place fourth in the 2A girls division. Courtney was in third place until the young lady from Idalou threw 125'2" on her next to last throw. Jackson is a junior, all three girls finishing ahead of her graduate this year.
Titus Clark also garnered a fourth place finish with a 22'2" jump in the Long Jump. The winner from Corrigan-Camden jumped 22'10 ½". Clark was just 1 ¾" from the third place medal. Titus Clark is a senior who concludes his athletic career at Lexington.
Julien Clark, Titus' brother, finished tied for sixth place in the high jump. Julien cleared 6'2" on his second attempt to tie. Julien almost cleared 6'4" to move into placing contention but it was not to be this day.
With Jackson's effort, the Lexington girl's team tied for 35th in the state meet. The boy's garnered 14 ½ points to finish 12th in the state meet in points.
The Giddings girls finished with 30 points to place 4th in team standings. Asia Wilson was second in the 200 meters and Deserae Davis finished third in the 100 meter dash. The 4x200 team of Kayla Winfield, Keanna Winfield, Davis, and Wilson finished second for the Lady Buffs.
