Fayette County Country Music

The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, June 15 at the KC Hall in La Grange. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 5:30 p.m. This month features a variety of musical talent.

Mary Kyle is a singer/ songwriter from the Austin area. During the past 10 years she has performed extensively on various Central Texas Oprys as well as locally in the Austin area. She has been privileged to play with a number of country music legends including Jean Sheppard, Hank Thomson, Cal Smith, Hank Locklin and many others. Her tribute to the American Armed forces, An American Solider is still an opry favorite. She currently works as a freelance writer and her children's book will be published in the summer of 2009.

Bob Stiles grew up in Indiana & Illinois with a mother who loved music and gave him formal training in music, which he did not like. However, as a adult he taught himself to play the guitar and spends a great deal of time pursuing this hobby.

Briana Adams is a 14-year-old singer/songwriter from the Winchester area. She has been inspired by country music since she was very young and has recently picked up singing and playing the guitar.

Johnny Lyon is a native of Bryan, Texas and kept the band the Nu-Notes going strong for well over 30 years. Johnny is the former owner of the Melody Ranch in Waco and has owned the Texas Hall of Fame In Bryan since 1978. With the same band he formed in high school - the Country Nu- Notes - Johnny is still hitting the road, playing in and around Texas, helping to keep the classic country sound alive in a commercial world that sometimes seems destined to forget its roots. A commercial world from which many celebrated Honky-tonks have long since faded as the sound of popular country music becomes more and more pasteurized. He has a new CD out entitled "Johnny Lyon and the Country Nu-Notes - The Austin Sessions"

Along with Johnny we will have

Mickey and Debbie Rice who will accompany him. They are a dynamic duo in the Country Nu- Note band and are also seasoned performers on their own. Married for 38 years, they have been performing together for 37 of those years. Mickey is considered one of the best bass guitar players around. He has been playing music since he was 13 years old. His vocal ability is second to none. Debbie was raised in a musical family has been singing all her life. She and Mickey had their own band and played the San Antonio Hill Country area for over 30 years. As part of the Country Nu-Notes, she and Mickey add harmony vocals that are a blend that is a great compliment to Johnny Lyon.
