Forest Grove News

by Lu Spence

Forest Grove has completed and enjoyed another year of Vacation Bible School. Around 35 pre-school and elementary children enjoyed the week. The children enjoyed a very special guest this year. Elilo Patton from Nagaland, India was the missionary and everyone enjoyed and learned some things about life in a rather impoverished part of India.

Elilo spent the week in the home of Ray and Mary Ross. As of last count, the offering for the new orphanage in Nagaland was over $3,500.

The community was saddened recently by the death of Novalene Curry. Funeral services were held in Rockdale with burial at Forest Grove. We send our sincere sympathy to the Curry family during this difficult time.

We also send our heartfelt sympathy to the family of Jack Watson. Mr. Watson passed away in Houston, and graveside services were held at Forest Grove.

Lynn, Morgan and Amber enjoyed an overnight stay with Doris.

It is good to report that Jimmy Keen is home and doing very well following knee surgery in a Temple hospital.

Several family and friends attended graveside services at Forest Grove on Saturday for Joe Wayne Duncum of Alpine. We also send our sympathy to the Duncum family during this time of sadness.

Chris, Arielle, Jayden and Austin Caldwell of Oak Harbor, Washington have arrived to make their home in Texas following several years of Navy life. Welcome to Forest Grove!

We would ask everyone to mark your calendars and plan to attend the July 4th festivities at Forest Grove. There will be plenty of food, games, fellowship and fun for all ages.
