Garden Club Annual Yard Tour a Success
On May 14, members of the Lexington Garden Club celebrated their annual yard tour. It started at the Sherrill home for a breakfast and a tour of Clara Grace's yard.
Many local yards were featured on the tour this year and each were unique and beautiful in its own way.
Leonard and Alice Kastner's backyard was a "maze" of flowering plants beautifully placed with a spectacular vegetable garden to behold.
Donna Durocher gardened in her front yard with weedless care. It was a very different approach to gardening.
Don and LaRuth McKenzie entertained with yard decorations and many blooming annual plants.
Ricki Hooper's backyard was a very tropical and cozy atmosphere with many non-typical plants and a relaxing lily pond.
Last, but not least, was the yard of Sylvia DeClue. Her husband James cooked and served barbecue for the delicious lunch that was served. Their country-style yard was most interesting, using antiques along with a tour of their home. Sylvia's co-hostess was Chloe Owen.
On June 11, at 9:30 a.m., the Garden Club will meet at the home of Pat Ahrendt. Dr. Andrew Woodward will give the program on "Plants and Environment."
Co-hostesses for that meeting will be Lorene Hall, Pam Iselt and Kay Walton.
