Four Eagles Head to State Track Meet
Four Lexington athletes qualified for the State Track Meet June 5th and 6th in Austin. Clint Hutson won the 110 meter hurdle event to lead the qualifiers. Titus Clark finished second in the Long Jump, as did brother Julien Clark in the High Jump to qualify. Courtney Jackson was the only Lady Eagle to qualify with a second place finish in the Discus.
Hutson bested the field with a 14.97 clocking in the 110 meter High Hurdles to bring home Lexington's only gold. Hutson also placed 4th in the Long Jump and in the 300 meter Intermediate Hurdles.
Titus Clark jumped 22'5 ¼" to place second in the Long Jump. Titus placed third in the 100 meter dash with a 11:26 timing for the bronze medal. Titus also placed fourth in the Triple Jump with a leap of 45'3".
Julien Clark high jumped a career best of 6'4" to place second in the High Jump. This will be his first trip to the State Meet.
Jackson threw a Lexington school record 124'6" to place second in the Discus. She will be the only Lady Eagle to compete at the State Meet.
The Eagle 4x100 Relay team of Hutson, Titus Clark, Spencer Taylor and Dylan Iselt ran a 43.67 in the finals, finishing just short of the state meet goal. The 4x200 team of Hutson, Clark, Iselt, and Zach Hussad finished seventh. Taylor ran a 11.36 to finish fifth in the 100 meter dash.
Titus Clark will jump at 9:00 am Friday morning at Mike Myers Stadium. Julien Clark will start jumping at 10:00 am Friday morning. Jackson will throw at 10:30 at the stadium. Hutson will run at 6:55 pm Friday evening in his run for the gold.
