Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

The Indy 500 had enough crashes to keep all the fans happy. The race was run in great weather conditions.

The Lady Eagle softball season finished on a bad note with the loss to Hallettsville Tuesday. The big discussion about the kicked ball may have distracted the girls some, but they must learn to keep their focus. As it was reported to me, the arrogance of the home plate umpire said he values his position more than he respects the right decision and to do what is right by the young athletes. That said, officiating games is very trying on the officials because the people in the stands have never missed a call. Just ask them.

I hope all the honors went to the athletes you thought at the banquet. The honors are nice, but the best part is that the students get to compete with their friends and develop memories that will only get better as time goes by. As you get older, you get faster, stronger, and some of the misfortunes are forgotten. Mostly good times are remembered.

I hated to miss the Lady Eagle play off game, but after being married 40 years you have to do something nice for your wife.
