Eagles Win District Track

The Lexington Eagles used 37 points from Titus Clark and 35 points from Clint Hutson to sprint to the District 25-AA championship. The Eagle JV also captured the District championship. Both teams scored 129 points in their winning efforts. The Lady Eagles finished fourth. A major disappointment occurred when two-time state champion Elydia Farwell pulled up lame during the 100-meter race. She will not be able to defend her championship in the 200 and 100 meter races at state.

Clark won the 100 meter dash, the triple jump, second in the long jump, ran on the winning 4x100 relay team, and anchored the second place 4x200 relay team. Hutson won the 110 meter hurdles, the 300 meter hurdles, the long jump and ran on the winning 4x100 relay team.

Courtney Jackson spun her way to the district championship in the discus and lofted the shot put a championship 34'9". The 4x100 relay team will go to Regional Meet as they finished second. Ashton Johnston and Deja Griffin also qualified to the next level with a second place finish in the long jump and a third in the 200 meters respectively.

All first, second, and third place finishers in District Meets will advance to the Regional Meet to be held at Converse Judson High School just north of San Antonio.
