Two Great Nights of Homecoming Rodeo Fun

For the first time, the Lexington Homecoming Rodeo has split the youth and open rodeo events into two nights. All events will be held at the Memorial American Legion Rodeo Arena in Lexington on Friday and Saturday the first weekend in May. Admission each evening is $5 for adults and free for children 12 years and under.

The Open Rodeo will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009. Riders will compete in five events: open tie down roping, open breakaway roping, open cloverleaf barrels, Double Muggin two-person team and team roping. The high money winner will receive a Buckle.

Youth ages 18 and under will compete in six events at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2009 including: breakaway roping, tie down roping, ribbon roping, cloverleaf barrels, straight away barrels and chute doggings. Children seven and under will get to compete in a special Stick Horse Race just for them. If you have never seen this race, you are in for a treat.

All contestants must call in on April 27 for the Open Rodeo and on April 28 for the Youth Rodeo. No walk ups are allowed. For more information about call-in times, entry fees or events, call Rick Reat at (512) 446-7149 or Garry Turner at (512) 273-2991.
