Germaine Lance Dawson
On April 3, 1987 a beautiful baby boy was born in Cameron to Melinda Dawson, she named him Germaine Lance Dawson. He was raised in Rockdale where he was a 2005 Rockdale High School graduate.
He confessed his faith in Christ and was baptized at Sandy Point A.M.E. Church in Dime Box, Texas. He remained a member until his death. Germaine attended Rockdale High School where he received top honors during his last year at Rockdale. During his athletic career he received many awards.
After graduating from Rockdale High, he enrolled at University of North Texas on a football scholarship where he achieved a bachelors degree in sociology his first two years and approaching his upcoming graduation was to receive his bachelor of science.
Germaine will be best remembered for his winning smile and his love for family, friends and football. He had a spirit of giving and helping with a heart of gold.
Germaine departed this life on March 25, 2009. He was preceded by great grandmother, Edna Mitchell and grandfather, Inester Dawson.
He leaves to cherish his memories; mother, Melinda Dawson of Austin; grandmother, Betty Hodge of Rockdale; grandmother, Ollivett Shepard of Dime Box; sister, TaNisha McKenzie of Austin; aunt, Brittany Evans of Rockdale; uncle, Inester Dawson, Jr. of LaGrange; godfather, Rodney Jackson of Taylor, and a host of uncles, aunts and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 9a.m. until service time.
Services was 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 at Phillips & Luckey Chapel in Rockdale, burial followed in the Sandy Point Church Cemetery in Dime Box with Reverend Josephine Mills officiating.
Pallbearers, Stryker Sulak, Matthew Sanders, Justin Blinka, Marcus Grayson, Travis Diestel, Jamal Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers are his University of North Texas football team mates.
