Kindergarten-2nd Grade Group

Lexington Elementary PE teachers, Marla Mitchell and Joyce Hodge, have motivated and encouraged over 100 K-5 students to complete the 26.2 mile goal. Beginning August 30, 2008 students ran during PE class on some days, sometimes stayed after school to run, and also ran at home in order to get their miles in by January 31, 2009.

The Final Mile celebration was held at Burger Stadium in Austin on February 21,2009.

Marathon Kids® is a free, twelve-year-old, trademarked, incremental, school and community based fitness program. It is a six month endurance-building running/walking, nutrition and schoolyard gardening project for K-5th graders and their families.
