Seton Seeking Members

The Lexington Association of Seton is currently seeking new members. Our annual dues are only $ 10.00 and are applied toward future projects in Austin. Our Spring Social will be held on March 20, 2012, and we are hoping to meet our new members there. We are also collecting donations toward the “future site” of the Seton Breast Cancer Center in Austin.

Lee County Teams Win Championships

The 2012 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Area Go Texan Contests were held this past weekend at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy. Teams from Lee County represented very well and came back with two Championships again this year.

Donations Not Keeping Pace With Patient Need

The Blood Center has issued an appeal for blood donations and urges everyone who can, to make a life-saving blood donation as soon as possible. All blood types are needed, though the supply of O negative, O positive and A+ are at particularly critical levels. This time last year, the Center was 200 units ahead of this year’s collections.

Academy Marches by Lady Eagles

Lexington’s Lady Eagles played a great first quarter at Academy, scoring 11 points. The great start has become a Lady Eagle trademark. They play well for the first quarter or so, and then fall back. They had a couple of baskets by Mackenzie Brown and Christen Schneider, a drive to the basket by Brown, and a rebound put back by Schneider, plus a free throw.

Eagles Earn FB Honors

Will Holcomb, Antonio Washington, and Todd Glass were chosen to the Collin Street Bakery/ Texas Sportswriters Association All- State team, first team. Defensive back Josh Murray and quarterback Kogan Garrett were selected to the second team. Murray was also named to the third team as a receiver. Jason Washington received votes to earn honorable mention.

UIL Realignment Thursday

The UIL will make public, this Thursday, its bi- annual realignment. The UIL redistricts and classifies every two years. Teams will be placed into districts for UIL competitions, not only in athletics, but in literary and speaking competitions also.

Lee County Game Warden

Recent rains have added to Lake Somerville’s water level but probably not as much as some would like. The lake has risen approximately a foot or so, but let’s remember it was also about 10’ low. Now that we’ve been able to see how flat the lake bed is, it’s going to take a lot more runoff to fill it.
