Pastor Mark Nygard and the congregation of Yegua Creek Evangelical Free Church invite you to a celebration service in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary, scheduled May 25, 2008, during the 10 a.m. worship service. The Honorable Benton Eskew will be speaking.
Between Taylor and Elgin, nestled back in the country is the small community of Type, Texas. At the turn of the 20th Century, the cotton boom in these parts brought many families to the area.
In May 1908, Pastor H.E. Sundberg and a group of 14 families began meeting and formed the Type Evangelical Free Church. The land to build the first building was donated by a local rancher, Peter Nygard. For many years the church grew with the economy, as more families moved into the area.
In December 1984, Pastor Mark Nygard followed the dream of his late Great Grandfather in seeing a tremendous work of God on that property, and formed the Yegua Creek Evangelical Free Church (YCEFC). His commitment and that of the YCEFC congregation has blessed many families in the local communities of Elgin, Taylor, Thrall, Coupland, Lexington and many others. He has now been the Pastor of Yegua Creek Evangelical Free Church for nearly 25 years.
