Lexington Halts Hempstead in OT
Wins Bi-District
The Lexington Eagles basketball team beat Hempstead 50-44 in Bi-District action Wednesday night at Bryan High School. The win continues the resurgence in Lexington basketball under Coach Charlie Tucker. Tucker’s troops are now 19-13 for the season. Full Story
Eagles Trim Longhorns 36-35
Lexington Eagles Are Area Champs
Lexington’s stout defense and opportunistic offense was just enough to send the Harper Longhorns home to the Hill Country for basketball season. The Eagles continue on to the Regional Quarterfinals as the only 25-AA team still playing. Full Story
Lady Eagles Get BB Honors
Several Lexington ladies earned District recognition this week. Angel Parks was chosen to the first team, Deja Griffin the second team and three girls, Nicole Koch, Karley Wren, and Rachel Clark, got votes to earn honorable mention recognition in voting by District 25-AA coaches. All the girls getting honors except Nicole Koch will be returning to the Lady Eagles next season. Full Story
Sports Thoughts
The basketball team has advanced to the regional quarterfinals. The last time was about six years ago when we won district, beat Blanco, and then lost to Van Vleck in the third round. It has been a great ride so far. Let’s hope it keeps on until we reach state. Full Story

The Lady Eagles had mixed results from their six games in the Cameron-Rockdale softball tourney.

LHS BPA Students Qualify for State
Lexington High School Chapter of Business Professionals of America (BPA) competed in the Regional competition at A & M Consolidated High School on Saturday, January 30, 2010. The state qualifiers will travel to Fort Worth Texas for the State BPA Competition March 3-6, 2010. Full Story

Star parties planned at Blinn’s Schulenburg campus
Stargazing class rescheduled
This spring stargazers can visit Blinn College’s Schulenburg campus on two special nights. Star parties are planned for March 6, 7- 9 p.m., and April 12, 7:30-9:30 p.m., at the Schaefer Observatory. Astronomy instructor Gordon Houston will be on hand to assist with the telescope and inform partygoers about the universe. Admission is free and open to the public. Full Story
Shorthorns Hook Eagles in Final
The Schulenburg Shorthorns blasted the Lexington Eagles 17-2 in the final of the annual Lexington baseball tourney. Lexington had beaten Holland and Trinity to reach the final. Schulenburg had beaten Navasota and Bryan JV to reach the final. Full Story
